This title may seem to be contradictory to the Christian Faith. Read the Bible and you see a loving God, creating man, providing for man, and speaking planet earth into existence by the breath of His mouth.
You see Jesus, the Son of God taking time for children, a Savior filled with compassion, healing the sick, feeding the multitudes, casting out demons, comforting, blessing, strengthening, and ministering to people.
Jesus wanted to bless people but He would not tolerate the money changers desecrating the temple and turning the place of worship into a den of thieves. Jesus preached and spoke through His disciples using military terminology.
- We are to endure hardness as a good soldier.
- We are to put on the whole armor of God.
- Our weapons are not carnal but spiritual.
- We are to fight the good fight of Faith.
- Jesus said before the thief could enter into a man’s home and steal his goods, he first must bind the strong man of the house.
- When Paul finished his course, he said he had fought a good fight.
This brings me to the point of this devotion. The Body of Christ has never been in a more intense and difficult battle in America than now. The Commander-in-Chief has given the orders. We are to man the battle stations. It isn’t time to play soldier or to spend our time marching on the parade grounds.
God is calling us to prepare for the battle. We are to put on the whole armor of God and attack. God expects us to do more than cower in our bunkers. He is commanding us to charge; to go to the enemies’ camp and tear down the devil’s strongholds. Our Commander is telling us we have spent enough time in the analyzing room and on the drawing board.
We have lived too long within the walls of the Church, going through the motions. These aren’t war games. This is the real stuff. That is live ammunition the devil is shooting our way. Look around you just for a moment and observe all the wounded and hear the cries “medic,” “medic.” Listen to those crying out in pain and suffering. Look at those with the flags draped over their caskets and listen to the sobs of the broken family.
Watch day after day how another freedom has been assassinated; another privilege lost, a casualty of this bloody war. The Bible is now gathering dust as it is unwelcome in any property owned or governed by the US government. Listen, the silence is deafening in the prayer closets.
There are some dynamic, progressive, worshipping, praising, visionary Churches obeying God, winning the lost, ministering to the hurting, witnessing miracles, carrying out the Mandate and the Commission of the gospel, and impacting their communities and cities. But there are too many satisfied with just fellowshipping with one another and just paying the monthly bills. They believe in circling the wagons and trying to just hold on.
We take our freedoms for granted, not even recognizing how many have already been taken from us. How are we to respond to this madness going on around us? The trumpet is blowing signaling for us to take our places and prepare for battle. God is holding the church responsible for the things taking place in America now.
The Call to Arms has been sounded. How will we, the Body of Christ respond?
